Learn how to create effective keyword-to-URL mappings and follow best practices for optimal internal linking.

Adding a Single Keyword

1. Navigate to Auto Linker → Keywords in your WP Admin
2. Click Add New Keyword
3. Fill in: Keyword (e.g. “internal linking”), Target URL (e.g. /blog/internal-linking-guide/), and Max per page (1-2 recommended)
4. Click Save Keyword

Best Practices

• Be specific: Use longer phrases over single generic words
• Match user intent: Keywords should naturally relate to the target page
• Limit frequency: Set max 1-2 links per page to avoid over-optimization
• Use natural anchor text: Avoid keyword-stuffed anchor text
• Link to pillar pages: Prioritize your most important pages as link targets
